My new love - MAC in Hey & Caribana

So I was going to do a post about the goodies that I received from M.A.C.nunu's giveaway a very long time ago, but I couldn't resist and started using the products right away! I would take a picture of some of the items, but many of them I already ate up or used lol

In her package to me, she included this lovely eyeshadow by MAC in Hey. When I saw it, I immediately thought about Stila's Kitten.

Once I swatched it, I was pleasantly surprised that it was not the same. Kitten is a bit too shimmery for me.

Sorry for the duplicate photo - just wanted to show you how it looks in different lighting. The top photo is indoors, just regular lighting. The bottom one is also indoors, but by the window.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this eyeshadow. I'm not big on eyeshadow - I find it difficult to blend colours and don't have a good grasp on how to apply it. The rare occasion I do wear it, I usually stick to one colour or I may try to add a 2nd colour lol I love this eyeshadow so much that I have been wearing it almost every day! I get a lot of compliments :D It's such a nice subtle colour and for some reason, it makes my eyes just pop. It's a very nice, soft, everyday kind of colour! If you go to MAC's website though, the swatch on there is quite dark. Maybe it's my computer screen ?

sigh - It's a Saturday night and I'm sitting at home on blogger. How lame is that lol. My bf is actually in Montreal enjoying his brother's bachelor party! I have been cleaning and re-organizing my forever growing cosmetics collection. I have found many items that I don't use anymore that I will put up for swapping (so I'm happy about that)

Any of you Toronto folks enjoying the Caribana? I went several years ago and took a couple of photos (sorry they're not great). There were many pretty and extravagant costumes, but way too many people for my liking lol

For more information on Caribana, visit: http://www.caribanatoronto.com/
From the website:"The Caribana Parade is the largest Caribana Festival event in North America and this year it will celebrate its 43 anniversary. This event is made up of a series of Bands that compete for best costumes in this annual parade. The Caribana Parade consists of over a million participants including steel pan bands, live soca, calypso, reggae and salsa performers as well as elaborate masqueraders in costume"

Hope you're enjoying your weekend :) Thanks for reading!

Blush Swatches

So here are some blushes I use more frequently + the blush I just purchased for $1 at the Body Shop Outlet in Niagara Falls :)

1. Colorbox in #11
2. MAC MSF in Petticoat
3. Cargo in Sunset Beach BB-06
4. EDM in Snuggle

This picture is by the window in natural light - no flash

This picture is in just regular room lighting - no flash

Here are the swatches. From left to right: swatches in flash, no flash in washroom, no flash by the window (natural light)

I didn't realize how some of these blushes are so similar in colour!

1. The colourbox is used occasionally when I feel like I want pink cheeks :) I find that this blush stays on longer throughout the day than the other blushes.

2. The MAC one is nice once in a while when I want like a shimmer, but I'm starting to dislike the shimmery stuff. I'm finding that I don't reach for it as often as I used to. It has more of a pinky tone to it.

3. The cargo blush (#3) on the photos is a lot more bronze in colour than I thought it would be. I suppose you could still choose the specific colours you want from the cargo as the colours are split into 4 sections. It's only alright... I find it that it's not as well pigmented as my EDM - which is good b/c sometimes I put on way too much blush lol (i'm still a newb). I like the cargo for little darker colour - I think i'll use it more often when it's summer and my skin tone is darker. It's kind of shimmery too.
Here is the swatch of the individual strips found in the Cargo Blush. The swatches correspond to the the photo up at the top. (use my middle finger, the most bronze colour, as the reference). Not as pigmented as I thought it would be.

4. I'm enjoying the Everyday minerals one right now -it's a peachy blush and it's slightly shimmery. It gives me a nice healthy glow, not too dark for my skin tone and not too light as well. (I get compliments when I'm wearing this one) ^_^

The Body Shop blush is a Roseflower Blush in 02 Fuschia. As you can see the sparkles on the blush, it doesn't get transferred to your skin,..it's not really as sparkly as you may think it is. As soon as you open the compact, you can smell the scent of roses. I like it, but you may not if you're not fond of scents. The smell doesn't transfer onto your cheeks lol

The bottom swatch is the Body Shop One. The top line swatch is the Colorbox blush. From left to right: swatches in flash, no flash in washroom, no flash by the window (natural light). I haven't actually tried out the Body Shop blush yet..I keep forgetting I have it ahah I will try it out soon! It looks so pretty!

Question to you all: How do you help keep the colour on throughout the day? I find that my blush is totally gone by the time I get home from work :( Do you do touch-ups during the day?

Skin Food Mushroom Multicare BB Cream SPF 20

Skin Food Mushroom Multicare BB Cream SPF 20 Shade 1 - Triple Function: Whitening, Anti-Aging, and Sun Block

So I purchased this BB cream off of ebay for only $10 CAD or so. This is what is states on the packaging: "A triple functional BB cream that contains skin friendly aloe & mushroom extract, adenosine and arbutin that helps to improve the appearance of fine lines and promotes a brighter, more radiant complextion with UV protection properties. [KFDA certified triple functional product]". This is what it looks like on my skin:

[Please click on the photos to enlarge for more detail]

The cream is really easy to blend and the consistency is not too thick. The coverage is minimal, but it's good for those days you don't really feel like wearing any make up. I like the fact that it has UV protection as well. The scent is ok, but after awhile, it was quite over powering (for me). Unfortunately after about 1-2 hours my face was so oily :( I didn't wear any primer or anything underneath it and I didn't wear any foundation on top of it. I think I'm going to have to try it a couple of more times before deciding if I like it or not. I think I will continue to use it for those days I just want something light on my face.

Have you tried BB creams before? What are some of your favourites?

Lipstick Swatches

Lately I have been having this obsession for nude lipstick. My lips are really pigmented, so I've been trying to find a lippie that gives me that great nude look. So far I'm really enjoying the Rimmel, nude delight. It looks a little orange in that photo, but when applied on my lips, it gives it a great nude colour. The lipstick itself is quite moisturizing, which I really like.

I also wanted to show you the swatches of the MAC lipsticks I purchased during my haul from the states. I apologize in advance for the blurriness =\

I don't know why I keep shopping for lipstick. Now that I look at these swatches, the colours are all VERY similar. *sigh* I should really stop...save me some money!
